ZYP Boron Nitride Lubricoat NH and Lubricoat NH Blue

ZYP Lubricoat® NH is a water-based, solvent free coating. It provides effective release and lubrication of molds, and protection of metal, ceramic, or graphite liquid-metal transfer components. This coating is easily applied by spraying or brushing as house paint. When dry it is non-wetting to molten aluminium, magnesium, and nonferrous metals and alloys. Because of its water-based formulation, it is easy to clean after use, and the water base allows for dilution with distilled or demineralized water.

Appearance

White or blue coating / paste

Active Ingredient

High-purity boron nitride

Operational in-use temperatures

Up to 1832°F (1000°C) in air; 2552°F (1400°C) in a vacuum; > 3272°F (1800°C) in inert or nitrogen atmosphere

Specific Gravity

1.1

pH

2–4, acidic, similar to lemon juice

Coverage

200–600 ft2 per gallon (5–15 m2 per liter), depending on coating thickness and method of application

Advantages

  • Lubrication and protection of molds and transfer components.
  • Non-wetting to molten aluminium, magnesium, and other nonferrous metals, their drosses, slags, fluxes and salts.
  • Use as a thick paste or dilute with water to desired viscosity.
  • Easy application, similar to house paint.
  • Water-based, safe and easy cleanup, dilution, etc.
