FIT-15 and FIT-25 Flux Injectors

FIT flux injection systems are cost-sensitive, small, portable mechanical fluxing stations, designed for sub-surface injection of powdered or fused flux at a rate of 1–8 lb (0.5–3.6 kg) per minute. These units are designed without electrical connections, operating solely on pressurized inert gas. Benefits include reduction of furnace floor buildup, flux consumption and smoke generation, resulting in improved metal quality. These systems can be used for delivery of both fused refining agents and powdered fluxes. Refining agents remove alkali metals as well as separate inclusions from the bath. Powdered fluxes remove inclusions and assist in keeping the furnace clean. This will increase the life of the refractory and reduce the amount of damage from physical cleaning.

Advantages

  • No moving parts to wear or plug
  • Low cost of operation
  • Improves casting quality by removing oxides and hydrogen
  • Reduces smoke generation from fluxing by reacting the flux below the metal surface
  • Uses flux efficiently to reduce consumption
  • Reduces the amount of aluminium retained in the dross

Features

  • Simple controls allow for quick operator training
  • Powder coat painted flux tank for durability
  • Heavy duty construction
  • Uses inert gas of either nitrogen or argon
  • Small platform for portability
  • Sealed flux tank with pressure gauge
  • Flux tank safety pressure pop-off pressure valve
  • Precise flow rates from 1–8 lb (0.5–3.6 kg) per minute (depending on model)

Specifications

  • 10 gal (38 L) tank holds up to 100 lb
(45.4 kg) of flux for large injection applications
  • Dimensions approximately 22 x 29 x 52 in (~ 56 x 74 x 132 cm)
  • FIT-15 details:
—1–3 lb (0.5–1.4 kg) flux injection rate
—3/4 in (19 mm) hose internal diameter
